EV olives have followed an interest in the old olive trees in North East Victoria. Over 50 years ago many small groves were established around homes in the Markwood, Everton and Whorouly areas, and indeed in Wangaratta and Rutherglen. The specific variety planted has not been recorded and there is often discussion about their origins.
EV Olives have propagated from many of these Heritage trees and has established groves with this progeny, as well as using the more accepted varieties such as Frantoio and Corregiola.
This interest has resulted in EV Olives being awarded Gold and Best Oil in section at the 12th Australian Golden Olive Awards for their lovely robust oil produced from these groves. Whilst EV Olives is proud of this result they were also awarded Silver for their Frantoio oil, a variety which produces excellent quantities of oil when planted in North East Victoria.
EV Olives operates a contract pressing business servicing the growers in the North East Victoria, processing fruit into extra virgin oil. The season starts in May and continues for about 8 weeks. Many of these growers rely on EV Olives to market their oil.
EV Olives has been exporting shipping container lots of bottled and labeled EV Olives brand extra virgin oils. This quality regional oil is sold in high end department stores in China.
EV olives offers tastings to the public of the award winning oils at the Markwood Groves, 203 Markwood - Everton Road, Markwood .
